The Social Origin of Corruption: Integrity and Deviance in Public and Private Office
The goal of this project is to develop and test the relation between integrity and corruption in both public service and private employment. The model will first map core concepts such as reciprocity, deviance, ethics, bureaucracy, professionalization, and others that may account for the contents and strength of integrity, as well as for the emergence of corruption as an organizational issue. Then, it will be tested through a comparative case study of countries and organizations commonly identified at different levels of the integrity and corruption spectrums. The results are expected to offer a tool for assessing organizational integrity, and the basis for more accurate anti-corruption interventions.
